Bamako proves its engagement for climate during the COVID19 crisis

The District of Bamako shows its continuous commitment against climate change by holding its first hybrid SEACAP steering committee, followed by video-conference for some, and in-person for others, all respecting sanitary measures imposed by the COVID19 crisis.

Co-organised by the Regional Development Agency of Bamako and Expertise France, this steering committee allowed the members to approve strategic documents and decisions, allowing the official launch of the activities leading to the development of the Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plan of Bamako. Politicians from Bamako District, its six municipalities and the intercommunity, as well as representatives of civil society organisations, exchange their point of view regarding specific environmental, social, and economic issues. During the meeting were highlighted the need to improve air quality as well as to pay close attention to women’s roles in the studies that will be conducted all along with the SEACAP development and implementation process.

The partners congratulate themselves on the good progress of this essential meeting and thank the members of the first Steering Committee for their active participation, despite the exceptional and particularly restrictive health context.
